Grande Spirit Foundation maintenance staff and snow-removal contractors work together to clear entrances, doorways, walkways and parking areas across our locations in Grande Prairie and and the surrounding communities.
Following a snowfall, our lodge properties are given priority.
Once lodge entrances, doorways and walkways have been addressed, crews continue to our independent-living properties, generally later in the morning.
Snow clearing is completed daily as needed. Timing may vary depending on the amount of snow, drifting, ongoing weather conditions and the number of properties requiring attention.
Grande Spirit Foundation maintenance staff are responsible for clearing snow from:
• Building entrances
• Doorways
• Walkways
Parking lots are cleared by contracted snow-removal crews. Seasonal workers may also provide additional assistance when needed.
Once the snowfall has stopped and conditions allow, maintenance staff also work to sweep and clean walkways.
During significant or continuous snowfall, some areas may need to be cleared more than once.
With many properties throughout the region, completing snow removal at every location takes time.
For everyone’s safety, residents and visitors are asked to use caution around active snow-removal equipment and give crews the space they need to work.
