COOK (PART-TIME)

Position: Part-Time Permanent
Initial Location: Pioneer Lodge; may be required to work at other sites, as needed.
Schedule: 7:00 am to 5:00 pm (9.5 hours)
Shift schedule varies from Sunday to Saturday, approximately 57 hours per pay period;
Compressed workweek (May be required to work other shifts & sites)
Compensation: $29.02 to $33.77 per hour

Role Overview
The Cook is responsible for efficiently delivering food services in senior housing facilities. In addition, when scheduled to work on weekends and/or statutory holidays, this role will be responsible for supervising staff and residents and ensuring the efficient delivery of housekeeping and food services in line with their core duties.

Key Responsibilities & Requirements:
•Knowledge: Knowledge of the Canada Food Guide and special diets (i.e. diabetics), and an understanding of the nutritional requirements of senior citizens.
•Customer Service: A congenial personality who enjoys working with and for the elderly, and an ability to maintain a harmonious relationship with staff and the public.
•Communication: Good communication skills.
•Service Excellence: Patience, time management skills, and the ability to work independently.
•Physical Capability: Must be physically fit and be able to bend, lift and climb.
•Ability: Ability to stay calm in emergencies and be able to carry out responsibilities listed in the Cook’s job description.

Qualifications:
•Education: Completion of a high school diploma or equivalent is an asset
•Experience: Bona fide cooking courses and cooking experience; Supervision experience is an asset. A combination of experience and qualifications may be considered
•Certifications: Food Safe, WHMIS, First Aid, and CPR certification preferred
•Clearance: Clear Criminal Record Check
•Assets: A genuine interest and empathy for the care of senior citizens
