Seasonal Caretaker
Position: Temporary Full-Time SEASONAL Caretaker (Contract from Oct 2026 to Mar 2027)
Location: Grande Spirit Foundation (Service across assigned housing portfolio)
Schedule: Days | Monday–Friday | 7:00 am – 3:00 pm (7.5-hour shifts), occasional weekends
Compensation: Starting at $27.03
Winter season only (September to March).
Role Overview
The Seasonal Caretaker is responsible for the upkeep and maintenance of our facility grounds and assisting with general site projects. This hands-on role requires a motivated individual who takes pride in maintaining a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for the seniors and families we serve. This position will run from October 2026 to March 2027, with a focus on the Winter season/snow removal.
Key Responsibilities & Requirements
•Grounds Maintenance: Execute seasonal tasks, including snow removal, grass cutting, trimming, and ongoing litter/debris cleanup in parking lots and common areas; planting and maintaining flowerbeds (seasonally).
•Physical Capability: Ability to meet the physical demands of the role, including regular bending, lifting, climbing, and operating snow removal & maintenance equipment. Also, must be willing & able to work outdoors in inclement weather. Winter driving will be required.
•General Maintenance: Assist with painting projects and perform minor repairs in and around housing units.
•Equipment Care: Operate and perform basic maintenance on snow removal, landscaping and maintenance equipment safely and efficiently.
•Operational Readiness: Ability to work safely and independently with limited supervision.
•Service Excellence: Exceptional patience, communication, and organizational skills, with a professional approach to interacting with residents and staff.
•Flexibility: Availability for weekend morning snow removal and occasional overtime as required. This position will run from October 2026 to March 2027 only, with a focus on the Winter season/snow removal.
Qualifications
•Education: High School Diploma or equivalent is an asset.
•Experience: Skilled experience in the building/construction industry is an asset; knowledge & experience with snow removal is required.
•Assets: Willingness to work safely & pursue further training.
•Requirements: Must have a Valid Class 5 driver’s license with a clean driver’s abstract, and reliable transportation to/from work.
•Certifications: WHMIS, First Aid, and CPR are assets.
•Clearance: Must successfully complete a Vulnerable Sector Criminal Record Check.
